The "Manic"
tape was a series of firsts. The "Bittersweet" demo actually
began a fan base for Pretty Polly, so the band felt compelled to try to
write more seriously and artistically. This was the first cassette to
feature an original photo and concept for the cover. And also the first
demo to refer to Frokus by his real name, Matt C. This would also be the
last demo on which he played on. The front cover photo was taken by Rob
G. in front of the dairy barn in Hewlett in which he was working at the
time. The bag idea was an original concept and the model was a co-worker,
Zac Campbell. Zac's older brother Matt would eventually join Pretty Polly
after the "Because You Were Lonely" demo to the "Getting
Over It" CD.
is the one you have the original? in the notes on the inner sleeve of the cassette, the e is written in where it lists "all songs written by pretty polly". It was done with a regular typewriter, so mistakes were always corrected by hand. |
