FRED: What
are your goals as a band?
STEVIED.:
Goal as a band? My goal is to play as many shows as
possible and tour.
JOHNWALSH:
Just to play... cause thats what it's all about, no?
ROBG.:
Yea, just to play for as many people as possible...
get people familiar with us again.
STEVIED.:
This is something that is my life and i'll do for
the rest of my life, man.
ROBG.:
I think our main goal is to do something that is a
little different. Something that hopefully people will like. And also maybe
they'll take a cue from us to do something different too.
FRED: How
far do you plan to go with your music?
STEVIED.:
Lots of touring! Hopefully get picked up by a label
that could help us out!
ROBG.:
Well, I'm honestly not sure how far we can go.. but
I think eventually we could do a 22 or 23 minutes epic.
STEVIED.:
Typical guitarist thing to say!
ROBG.:
HEY! (laughs)
FRED:
Is there any message you're trying to send to
the kids out there?
STEVIED.:
Don't play drums like me!! (laughs)
JOHNWALSH:
Always be yourself...
ROBG.:
The basic message is to open your eyes. Every song
for us, what we're trying to say lyrically and musically is that we're not
as naive as people think we are. and I don't mean literally us, I mean all
of us. That we're all aware that things aren't right and that something
has to be done about it.
FRED: How
do you feel about competing against other bands on Long Island?
ROBG.:
We feel proud to take part.
STEVIED.:
We're not competing, we're just having fun.
JOHNWALSH:
There is no compitition. Music's not about competing.
It's not a sport. We'll all do our thing and have a good time. It's not
about winning or losing.
STEVIED.:
It's about HOW you win! (laughs)
FRED:
What do u think of the punk scene on Long Island?
STEVIED.:
What punk scene???
JOHNWALSH:
There hasn't been a punk scene since like 1970-something
I don't think... the sex pistols were real punk.
STEVIED.:
The real punk is still going on in New York City where
they sing about anarchy and politics. Even though it's a fashion now!
ROBG.:
Punks reverted to something else these days...
STEVIED.:
A lot of this poppy punk... they sing about girls...
and girls... and life isn't about girls! There's more to life then that!
ROBG.:
True. it's about an expression. Don't worry about
girls. Just do what you can while your here.
FRED: What
are your thoughts on 'Noon To Five'?
STEVIED.:
Noon to Five rules!!! They're f*ckin' nice kids!
ROBG.:
Unlike a lot of Long Island bands, they are very nice
kids.
STEVIED.:
Fred... is from California so he's got a heart, man.
JOHNWALSH:
They were good kids. They weren't all together the
day we saw them, but regardless...
ROBG.:
I was personally impressed with the broken armed drummer.
FRED:
What do you think of beach parties?
ROBG.:
Is this show going to be on a beach or something?
Is that what this question is about? Idon't go to the beach except at nights.
And I like to party. So I guess I like beach parties at night.
FRED:
Wow do you feel about being in this magazine?
STEVIED.:
I feel honored.
ROBG.:
We always feel very humble anytime anyone takes notice
of the band and what we have to say.
FRED:
Since there are people reading this magazine that
you don't know, what message would you send out to them?
STEVIED.:
Buy our cd's or we'll KILL you!!!! (laughs)
STEVIED.:
No, seriously... just do your best. If you're doing
something that you love, then keep going with it and never give up. No matter
what people tell you.
ROBG.:
Exactly. Do what you want to do, when you want to
do it.
STEVIED.:
...and don't play drums like me! (laughs)
JOHNWALSH:
Don't listen to music because it's cool. Listen to
it because you feel & get something out of it. I know you'll have a
different opinion of music depending on if you play it or just listen to
it but still...
ROBG.:
...there's a lot more out there then what your being
forcefed by mtv and the radio.
JOHNWALSH:
It's gotta go back to the way it was back in the day.
It should go back to being rightious. like in the 60's, 70's...
ROBG.:
...and early 90's.
JOHNWALSH:
Rock n' roll isn't about making money. It's about
being who you want to be...
