This was our first concept cassette. We really wanted to try our best to stand out and show our creativity. The cover was a scene from the Stanley Kubrick movie "A Clockwork Orange", which was what inspired our name to begin with. We were actually given the idea to put these 3 song together on a demo by our soon-to-be bassist Pete M. He suggested we record good studio versions of these 3 songs because they were our strongest at the time. So, we did and this started what would have been a 4 tape demo set. Originally, Steve and i planned this to the part one of the "BitterSweet Manic Depressive Romantics" series. We figured these could be our bittersweet songs, the next tape would have our manic songs. The third would represent our depressing sad songs. (aka ballads) And the final tape would've been called Romantics, because we had a few pop-punk 'romantic' songs in our early songwriting career & we were big Romantics fans. Of course, this all changed after this cassette was completed.
is the one you have the original? There are actually 2 mixes of this demo out there. The first mix & the one that was distributed for free at various long island record stores was a very raw sounding demo & the demo the band intended on releasing. We did a second mix months later for later copies of the cassette in which we panned the guitars from left to right, giving it a more bass-y sound ala the "Manic" tape. If it sounds raw and raunchy, then you've got the original.
